Community Guidelines

Openness with care.

Honest participation, without giving up control over what you share.

Why this matters

People need room for honesty and control over what they share.

Silence can deepen isolation, but openness does not require sharing everything. Sam's OATH gives people different ways to participate so honesty, privacy, and personal boundaries can coexist.

Your choices

Participate in the way that fits you.

You choose your level of identification before anything is submitted.

First name

Use a first name when that level of identification feels right.

Initials

Use initials instead of a name.

Nickname

Choose a nickname that does not identify another person.

Anonymous

Join or contribute without displaying a personal identifier.

Sharing stories and encouragement

Center your own experience.

A contribution can be honest, meaningful, and specific about your own life without disclosing someone else's confidential details.

What you experienced

Write about what you felt, learned, needed, chose, or wish another person understood.

What helped

Share a conversation, boundary, source of support, or small step that mattered to you.

What you want others to know

Offer perspective or encouragement without diagnosing, accusing, or identifying another person.

Participation standards

Protect trust in the space.

Stories, encouragement, and other submitted content follow the existing review and approval process before appearing on the site.

Content that belongs

Personal experiences, honest reflection, encouragement, lessons learned, grief, boundaries, hope, and expressions of OATH.

Content held back or removed

Harassment, threats, attacks, accusations, confidential health information, identifying details shared without authority, medical or legal advice, spam, and content unrelated to the movement.

Information and location

Use only what is needed for the participation you choose.

Contact information is used for the approved confirmation and participation process. The People page and Map may use only the identifier and general location authorized through the existing process.

Exact home addresses and precise geolocation should not appear on the site. Contact information should not be reused for unrelated outreach without consent.

Safety and support boundaries

Use direct help when the situation needs it.

Sam's OATH offers stories, encouragement, general information, and links to outside resources. It does not provide treatment, counseling, diagnosis, crisis intervention, or individualized professional advice.

Questions or concerns

Tell us when something needs attention.

Use the Contact page to ask a privacy question, report content, request review of a contribution, or raise a concern about the site. Requests should be handled through the approved contact and moderation process.
